Still in shock - LANDON DONOVAN IN STOPPAGE TIME!!!!! 1-0 USA!!

Craziness. I was starting to feel my heart exploding in my chest but thankfully our boys came through. Can't wait for the next round!

this just happened.

First line of an email I just got from an account person:

"Hi –
Client does NOT want to staple the condoms to the postcard. They would rather have glue."

Sometimes my job is funny.

World Cupdates

A look at what’s happening NOW at the World Cup:

  • France has embarrassed themselves. Players bitching out coaches, playing horribly, bickering amongst themselves, boycotting practice sessions. I’m happily eating FREEDOM FRIES as celebration for not being French.

  • Sadly, South Africa becomes the first host country to not make it past the first round, even though they beat France this morning. Some think it was a conspiracy to help the buzz of the vuvuzela die down in future games.

  • US striker Jozy Altidore missed practice today because he had a stomach bug. The good news? He should be fine to play tomorrow. The bad news? His parents named him Jozy.

  • 90% of the vuvuzelas sold at the World Cup were manufactured in China. To prep for the tourney, factories were making 200,000 horns a day. In future news, the world declares war on China.

  • All the US needs to do to advance is win tomorrow - USA USA USA USA USA

aces wild.

So yesterday I was walking home from the Path and was like 2 blocks away from my apartment when all of a sudden 2 dogs were running loose in front of me. First I thought to myself, how do I always find these STRAY DOGS?! But these ones were different. They were well kept, and wearing collars (although one of them, a pit bull, also had a HUGE metal chain around its neck).

I tried to call to them because they were just running down the sidewalk towards the street, but the one paid me no attention and the other one just followed. I could tell who wore the pants in that dog relationship... Anyways they went past my apartment and I followed for a second, and watched the first dog run across a big street! He almost got hit by a car. But the other dog didn't follow him across the street.

So I took my chances. I said "Hello puppy" to the pit bull with the big metal chain around his neck. He came towards me! I reached out and prayed that he was a nice dog and wouldn't bite me, and he didn't. Phew. So I checked his collar, and found that his name was ACE and called his owner's number.

Ace ended up being super cute so I took some pics.

Then I chilled with Ace for a little while until his owner got there. Good times. Everything worked okay A-okay. But there are some lessons in this:

1. If you're going to lose your dog, make sure they wear a tag with your phone number!
2. If you're going to lose your dog and want someone to help you find it, don't put anything on it to make it look menacing!

warning to all pierogies - don't mess with pirates

So the Pittsburgh Pirates fired a guy who runs around in a pierogie costume on the field for posting something on his facebook page about how the pirates are bad. What happened to freedom of speech? Does that not apply to pierogies?

I dug up the Pierogie Bill of Rights to settle this matter. Here's what it says:

Article III
Baseball teams shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the pierogies peaceably to assemble, and to petition the management for a redress of grievances.

Looks like this issue might make it all the way to the Supreme Court of Pierogies...

the hamburgler.

Hoover just walked out of her room carrying a burger from Shake Shack that she got last night when she was drunk. She put it in her purse and brought it home. She found it in her purse this morning.

GROSS!

What kind of person am I living with? How did she not devour that burger immediately after getting it? mmm I'm trying really hard to contain myself to not take it out of the garbage and eat it right now.

WORLD CUP 2010!

Let the games commence! The World Cup is underway and I'm sitting at work cursing espn3.com for NOT WORKING like it said it would to broadcast the games to me. Oh well, guess I'll have to find a nearby bar for the 2:30 match. Not too big a loss I guess...

Also wish I still was going to S.Africa to watch everything go down... thankfully all our tickets resold so we'll get our $ back. But a trip to the World Cup seems like a priceless trip...maybe someday.

Check out more great World Cup photos at The Big Picture.

this just happened.

Went down to the studio to get some video files converted. There is someone who works there named Michael Jackson. He is doing it for me.

Michael Jackson is converting my files.

duncan sheik at the city winery

Great show. First, Duncan and Gerry Leonard played an entire Nick Drake album which was real mellow and great. Then he brought out a small collection of string instruments to accompany him on the rest of the set. Played his big hit, "Barely Breathing!" And also one song from the musical Spring Awakening, which he wrote.

City Winery is such a great venue. It's an intimate setting but is big in NYC standards for a smaller venue. Duncan Sheik will be playing there 3 more times over the upcoming weeks. He mentioned last night that his next show will be "a lot of 80's cover songs." Sounds good to me.

i've got a fever... and the only prescription is LEGO FUSSBALL!

Bacon Moon Pie

This just looks too delicious for a Wednesday afternoon. It makes me want to eat like 4 of these and then slowly fall into a cozy food coma while my stomach thanks me over and over again for the deliciousness.

A traditional Scottish shortbread with bacon fat and bacon cracklin, Bacon Moon Pie also features savory ingredients like a marshmallow made from Vermont maple syrup, bourbon, and bacon cracklin caramel. Oh yeah, and the whole thing is covered in dark chocolate.

You can order these puppies here. If you do, save me some please.
