Some Missy Higgins from Lilith Fair. She was amazing, her voice sounds just like her record. And that's a great thing.
Here's a song you may know from her cd, On a Clear Night. Worth checking out.

most "worth it" run on the field ever?
This Orioles fan ran onto the field. And kept running. And running. For 2 WHOLE minutes, without being stopped by security. He even jumps back into the stands at one point, and then turns around and goes back onto the field again!
I don't know if he'll ever be allowed back into the stadium or how those things work, but this guy definitely got his money's worth in the fan jumping on the field category.
I also like that all it took to make him stop was the umpire asking him to give up so the security guards could catch him. He respects the authority of the MLB at least.

this just happened.
Just read some scripts in a client presentation for an erectile dysfunction pill. I had to read the part of a woman whose man couldn't get it up, and talk to my man about going to see his doctor and get some pills to solve that shiz.
Sometimes my job is weird...

World Cupdates
Only 2 teams remain, and the World Cup is coming to a close. American futbol haters breathe a sigh of relief while everyone else in the world gets ready for their most exciting event in the past 4 years to come to a close. Let's take a look at what's going on these days in the World of the Cup:
- An octopus has correctly guessed the winners to every World Cup game that he has predicted so far. By predicting, we mean throwing his eight arms around one of two boxes of food. Each box sports a flag of one of the teams that are about to play. His most recent prophecy was Spain over Germany. Now he's getting death threats. Poor guy.
- Norwegian porn star Bobbi Eden has tweeted that if Norway wins the World Cup, she will give all of her followers a BJ. Here's what she tweeted: “If #ned wins the #worldcup I will give a BJ to all my followers, together with @vickyvette @misshybrid @gabbyquinteros 4898 and counting RTless.” Only problem I see here is if she's got any women followers. Way to discriminate, Bobbi. Guess for 4898 people, a lot more than patriotic pride is riding on the result of Sunday's game.
- In similar news, a Paraguayan lingerie model who previously promised to run naked through the streets if her team won the World Cup says she's going to do it anyways. Well that's the never-give-up attitude that more people who plan to run around naked need to have. If the Buffalo Bills win the Super Bowl this year, I'll run naked through the streets of Buffalo. But only if they win. I hold my naked runs to higher standards than this woman apparently.
- A cocaine-filled World Cup trophy was seized at a Colombia airport. File this under "unsurprising." 24 lbs of coke was molded to resemble the infamous trophy.
- Labron James set to star in his own show tonight. Wait...that's not global news... Personally I'm more excited for Chad Ochocinco's dating show.
Also, gonna go ahead and predict that this guy's winning the cup on Sunday:
But don't quote me on that. I'm no octopus.

LaBurnt out.
I cannot wait until 9PM tonight. Actually, 10PM I guess. That's when Labronbron will be done with his HOUR LONG SPECIAL where he announces where he'll sign and play next year. It's hard enough for the President to get airtime on television primetime these days, but the world waits with baited breath to hear what Labron's next move is.
I am interested to hear where he's going -- especially since now the rumor mill's churning out that he'll end up with Bosh and Wade in Miami (book my flight now...). But I am tired of the constant Labron updates that really give us no new information, just reaffirm the fact that there are TEAMS in the NBA that he MIGHT BE SIGNING WITH. Wow. We could have had these alerts all season and the amount of information given would be the exact same -- not much.
Even though tonight's presentation will not completely stop the chatter for a while, at least now the chatter will actually have a bit more weight than pure speculation. Plus, the "Labron Watch" scrolling bar can leave the bottom of SportsCenter.
Labron, I think you're great. It's not you -- it's me the Labron Watch.
Go Heat 2011!

World Cupdates
A look at what’s happening NOW at the World Cup:
- France has embarrassed themselves. Players bitching out coaches, playing horribly, bickering amongst themselves, boycotting practice sessions. I’m happily eating FREEDOM FRIES as celebration for not being French.
- Sadly, South Africa becomes the first host country to not make it past the first round, even though they beat France this morning. Some think it was a conspiracy to help the buzz of the vuvuzela die down in future games.
- US striker Jozy Altidore missed practice today because he had a stomach bug. The good news? He should be fine to play tomorrow. The bad news? His parents named him Jozy.
- 90% of the vuvuzelas sold at the World Cup were manufactured in China. To prep for the tourney, factories were making 200,000 horns a day. In future news, the world declares war on China.
- All the US needs to do to advance is win tomorrow - USA USA USA USA USA

aces wild.
So yesterday I was walking home from the Path and was like 2 blocks away from my apartment when all of a sudden 2 dogs were running loose in front of me. First I thought to myself, how do I always find these STRAY DOGS?! But these ones were different. They were well kept, and wearing collars (although one of them, a pit bull, also had a HUGE metal chain around its neck).
I tried to call to them because they were just running down the sidewalk towards the street, but the one paid me no attention and the other one just followed. I could tell who wore the pants in that dog relationship... Anyways they went past my apartment and I followed for a second, and watched the first dog run across a big street! He almost got hit by a car. But the other dog didn't follow him across the street.
So I took my chances. I said "Hello puppy" to the pit bull with the big metal chain around his neck. He came towards me! I reached out and prayed that he was a nice dog and wouldn't bite me, and he didn't. Phew. So I checked his collar, and found that his name was ACE and called his owner's number.
Ace ended up being super cute so I took some pics.

Then I chilled with Ace for a little while until his owner got there. Good times. Everything worked okay A-okay. But there are some lessons in this:
1. If you're going to lose your dog, make sure they wear a tag with your phone number!
2. If you're going to lose your dog and want someone to help you find it, don't put anything on it to make it look menacing!

warning to all pierogies - don't mess with pirates
So the Pittsburgh Pirates fired a guy who runs around in a pierogie costume on the field for posting something on his facebook page about how the pirates are bad. What happened to freedom of speech? Does that not apply to pierogies?
I dug up the Pierogie Bill of Rights to settle this matter. Here's what it says:
Article III
Baseball teams shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the pierogies peaceably to assemble, and to petition the management for a redress of grievances.
Looks like this issue might make it all the way to the Supreme Court of Pierogies...

the hamburgler.
Hoover just walked out of her room carrying a burger from Shake Shack that she got last night when she was drunk. She put it in her purse and brought it home. She found it in her purse this morning.
GROSS!
What kind of person am I living with? How did she not devour that burger immediately after getting it? mmm I'm trying really hard to contain myself to not take it out of the garbage and eat it right now.

WORLD CUP 2010!

Let the games commence! The World Cup is underway and I'm sitting at work cursing espn3.com for NOT WORKING like it said it would to broadcast the games to me. Oh well, guess I'll have to find a nearby bar for the 2:30 match. Not too big a loss I guess...
Also wish I still was going to S.Africa to watch everything go down... thankfully all our tickets resold so we'll get our $ back. But a trip to the World Cup seems like a priceless trip...maybe someday.
Check out more great World Cup photos at The Big Picture.

duncan sheik at the city winery

Great show. First, Duncan and Gerry Leonard played an entire Nick Drake album which was real mellow and great. Then he brought out a small collection of string instruments to accompany him on the rest of the set. Played his big hit, "Barely Breathing!" And also one song from the musical Spring Awakening, which he wrote.
City Winery is such a great venue. It's an intimate setting but is big in NYC standards for a smaller venue. Duncan Sheik will be playing there 3 more times over the upcoming weeks. He mentioned last night that his next show will be "a lot of 80's cover songs." Sounds good to me.

Bacon Moon Pie

This just looks too delicious for a Wednesday afternoon. It makes me want to eat like 4 of these and then slowly fall into a cozy food coma while my stomach thanks me over and over again for the deliciousness.
A traditional Scottish shortbread with bacon fat and bacon cracklin, Bacon Moon Pie also features savory ingredients like a marshmallow made from Vermont maple syrup, bourbon, and bacon cracklin caramel. Oh yeah, and the whole thing is covered in dark chocolate.
You can order these puppies here. If you do, save me some please.

the great sitcom pitch... inaugural entry
We're going to have a new feature on this blog...the Great Sitcom Pitch! It all started with my brother's idea for an original new television sitcom. After several weeks, and a bunch more pitches, we're bringing this to the Internets. Big time TV execs reading this, please contact us if you'd like to make one of these happen. So without further ado... I'll give it up to...
Guest Blogger Rusty Buehler:
First of all, let me just say I'm so excited to be a guest blogger. If I can't keep up with a blog regularly, there's nothing better than to sit down and bang out a few thoughts while somebody awesome like my sister does the heavy lifting.
SO! TV pitch of the week! I'm going to start with the one that started it all...
NO WAY ROSE!
(Note: For maximum effect, you really gotta shout it out loud, pronouncing 'rose,' like the kind of wine you order.)
NO WAY ROSE! is a half hour multicam sitcom on ABC about a plucky young woman named Rose, who owns her own winery in Napa Valley. But... here's the twist... she's a recovering alcoholic! Tune in each week to find out what shenanigans Rose is getting herself into. With the help of her sassy retired Mother, Rose leaves no grapeleaf unturned!
Possible casting... Zooey Deschenel or Natasha Lyonne as Rose, and Lainie Kazan or Jan Hooks as her Mom. Who do YOU want to see as Rose?

I just found out that if Crystal Bowersox wins American Idol, I win this American Idol pool I entered 3 months ago. So... let's go Bowersox! ...even though I like you, Lee. You'll get a record deal anyways. Don't worry.

glorious, glorious grills

Last night I used it for the first time after
Turkey burgers and hot dogs. A wonderful start to what will be a wonderful summer of grilling. We also enjoyed some wonderful beers, including a 6'er that expired in August 2009. Stay classy, liquor store near our apt that sold that to us yesterday.
Looking forward to lots more bbq's this summer. Feel free to leave your favorite bbq recipes or secrets to comments for me to enjoy!

The CUTE WALK!
On Saturday Becca and I set off to take Time Out New York’s “Cute Walk.” A 2.4 mile walk through the city that includes stops at puppy stores, toy stores, and candy stores? Sounded like a great time to us.
Before we began, we met at a Cuban restaurant for brunch that had free unlimited sangria with your meal. Becca indulged while I took one sip and tried not to vomit as I nursed my hangover. The food was delicious though!
Then we started the cute walk. We started off a little shaky, getting lost for a while, but finally found our first destination: Papabubble candy shop. They make their own hard candy there, and we sampled some before moving onto our next destination.
Afterall, the candy was yummy, but puppies were waiting…
Then we went to Animal Haven. We looked at a bunch of adorable puppies and played with one that loved to bite us. It even bit me in the chin, which I wasn’t sure was possible, but apparently it is. But we forgave her for physically assaulting us, because SHE WAS SO CUTE.
Her sister also watched on as we played:
After we were done filling out the papers to adopt the puppy (just kidding!) we moved on to Pylones, a colorful gift shop that had toys, office supplies, books, and other cool gadgets and knick knacks.
I picked up a wind up panda bear for my brother and we moved on to our next stop …
KIDROBOT. Here's a place that has lots of "designer" toys, it's pretty cool.
Bec posed with a mustached stuffed animal before we moved on to...
LE PETIT PUPPY! Which contained, yep you guessed it, small puppies. There were a couple puppies out to play with, baby Jack Russell Terriers that were only 9 weeks old. They were roughly the size of gerbils which I found both weird and adorable at the same time. We also gave some shout out love to a cute weinerdog puppy who really just wanted to come out of his cage and say hello to us. But alas, time was of the essence. So we went down the street to Parrots & Pups and saw even more puppies. Our time was running low, however, since we had tickets to A CUTE MOVIE, so we skipped a few stops on our walk and headed right for the last stop…
Magnolia Bakery! The line stretched out the door, but it didn’t take too long for us to get inside and get our hands on yummy treats. Then we kind of had to book it to the movie theater, since our cute walk was taking a cute long time. So we hopped in a cab and Bec enjoyed her wonderful cupcake.
We arrived at the theater just in time to meet Amy D for the start of our cute movie - BABIES! Which was adorable and, dare I say it… cute. My favorite baby was the one from Nambia, but they were all pretty darn sweet.
After the movie, we got some mac and cheese at SMAC, and that concluded our day of cute.
If anyone else would like to indulge on the Cute Walk, you can find all the stops and their addresses here. It’s a great way to spend a summer afternoon!
:)

Made eggplant stuffed with a shrimp and crabmeat last night for dinner. It was very delicious. Thanks, Emeril, for the recipe. It's funny that Emeril's recipes use so much of his signature cooking spice, Essence. BUT IT WORKS. So good.
